Kara is of Thai father and New Zealand mother. She started a brief modeling career in Sydney, Australia, in 1985 then moved to Thailand to model full time in 1986 which lasted for 17 years. Half way through her modeling career she started working as a TV host and emceed at events which are now her main jobs. She also used to write a regular column about general opinions for Lips fashion magazine for over 6 years and has produced 4 pocket book.

She stared in a film called "Behind the Painting" in 2001 which was adapted from a classic Thai love story. Her acting debut earned her 2 best actress awards and in the same year she was also awarded 2 best TV host awards.
